Nina has been in love with Latin America since she was 10. She has travelled and/or lived in Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Honduras and Costa Rica, where she now calls home.

Her interest in Indigenous art and culture began in Mexico in 1978 when she journeyed through Oaxaca and Chiapas and began collecting weavings, baskets and huipils. Now, years later, after connecting with several different cultures and tribes, she wants to share her passion by showcasing the artistry of the people she loves.

"Canto Libre Artisans is one small way to show my reverence and love for the people and culture that has influenced my life. This endeavor is essentially a bridge for us to stay connected and to present their creativity and talent to the world outside their villages."

CANTO
LIBRE

In his song, "Canto Libre", Victor Jara sings,

"My song is a chain
with no start or end
and in each link there is
the song of the others.
Let us keep singing together
to all humanity."
Canto Libre Artisans aims to live by his words and create an honest, genuine, soul connection between humans. By sharing our love of art and culture, we hope that the world can get to know each other—remembering that we all are one—each of us a link in the chain of humanity.

We have created relationships with Indigenous Tribes from Colombia and Guatemala, collaborating with them to create original designs that honor tradition in a unique way. We hope that with each purchase, you feel connected to the individual or community that had a hand in creating it; that you feel their joy of life, and it helps you to feel your own.

Let us all keep singing, together!
